Impossible Propulsion

I was headed to a car show in Bloomington driving my Model A pickup. My friend was following me in his roadster. My pick up developed a very loud knock in the engine and we felt it would cause too much damage to the engine to continue.

My friend pushed me back to his place where we removed the head to investigate the noise. We decided it was a loose rod so we piled all the removed parts in the back of the truck and he again pushed me on toward my shop.

Along the way we approached an intersection where the light was changing to red. He "let me go" and I coasted to the light and stopped. When the light changed to green he eased up behind me to continue pushing. Just as he was about to push I put the truck in high gear, hit the starter and "drove" away!

I was watching him in the mirror and you should have seen the look on his face! He knew the engine was in pieces. When we got to my place I told him I had some "coast" saved up. I finally "fessed up" after we had a good laugh.
